Not Gardening, But a Worthy Cause
So we here at Philly Rooted are gearing up for another great season of getting fresh produce into our community and getting some young people jobs. But before we put those seeds in the ground just yet, we wanted to tell you all of some seeds that Nic has been throwing down in the ground all winter.
In between building the cooperative, putting up the hoop house, installing the water and traveling around India for two months, Nic has been working on his first novel about the Urban Gardening and city homesteading movement. It’s called Seeds of Discent and it will be released in Philadelphia on April 29th. He hopes this book will bring a broader perspective to the movement and connect people to the kind of work that Philly Rooted does in a more personal way.
He also just launched his kickstarter campaign to raise money for his printing costs, since he’s self publishing. If you’d like to find out more about the project or contribute, please visit the site at:

And keep following this blog to watch our progress as we begin our 2011 growing season. It’s going to be an exciting spring.
Thanks,
Erica and Nic
